NCDXA Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 13:33 at the QTH of Frank Donovan (W3LPL)
by the president, Rick Murphy, K1MU. The table below is a list of those
members and guests that were in attendance. As usual, there were self-

The treasurer's report for June showed a beginning balance of $4,552.86.
Expenses for the period were $695.00 (Dinner at W2GPS April Meeting $175.00,
FT5ZM DXpedition $500.00, W3 Bureau $20.00) and income of $105 (W3 Bureau
$20.00, Dinner at W2GPS $85.00). The ending balance is $3,962.86.

 

John Kanode provided the League report. He stated that there was not much
new going with the DXCC program but there are still issues with countries
like Kosovo and ITU membership. John recommended that any suggestions should
be forwarded through your division director. 

 

The president then addressed the current status of the club. After
discussions with the board, he recommended the corporation that was formed
prior to the DXCC-East Convention last year in order to protect the
liability of the officers and members be disbanded. This change was
motivated by the fact that it will cost in excess of $2,000.00 to become a
501C-3 corporation. Going forward, the club will operate as it did prior to
the formation of the corporation and papers will be filed to close the
corporation.

 

Mike Cizek thanked Rick Murphy for all of his work at the League correcting
the problems with LOTW.


John Kanode recommended that no new Field Day categories for new bonus
points be added. Apparently, some of the recently recommended categories
were not actually related to improving operator skills. John also mentioned
that the club's website has a page where members can upload their DX
activity. The idea is that it will foster friendly competition between
members.  The club will be awarding the top three members based on their DX
Marathon scores for 2013, so members are encouraged to participate and
submit their scores using the member's only website.

 

The August meeting will be held this year in September. The tentative date
is Saturday the 21st. The date will be confirmed in August.

 

N4MM and W3MC moved to adjourn the meeting at 13.50.
