[NCDXA] NCDXA October Meeting Saturday October 21, 2017

Fellow members of the NCDXA:



The October meeting of the National Capitol DX Association will be
held on *Saturday,
October 21* at the residence of Jim Locke, W3NRJ, 15301 Turkey Foot Road,
Darnestown, MD 20878.

*NOTE: You are advised to strictly adhere to the posted speed limits as you
travel along Darnestown Road where radar cameras are used to effectively
catch speeders.*



The October meeting is the Club’s Annual Meeting, an important event, with
the election of officers and financial report on the agenda.  DXCC card
checking by Don Search, W3AZD, or Terry Hines, N4ZH will also be available
before the meeting starts.



This year, two Board of Directors positions are up for election:
Vice-President, currently held by John Kanode, N4MM (n4mm at arrl.net) and
Treasurer, held by Jack Ference, W3KX (w3kx at arrl.net). John Kanode said he
will be running for re-election this year. Jack has indicated that he will
not be running for re-election. If you are interested in learning more
about the duties and responsibilities of each position, please contact the
incumbents.  An Email announcement describing the Treasurer’s duties and
responsibilities will follow this Email announcement.



The meeting agenda may be found at the end of this announcement.



This meeting is also the time when members traditionally pay their dues for
the coming year. NCDXA dues for the coming year are due in the month of
October.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, checks may be mailed to
the Treasurer’s address or you may pay using the Club’s PayPal link; both
can be found on the NCDXA website membership services link:
http://ncdxa.org/membership.shtml  You are urged to attend this meeting.



As is the custom at NCDXA meetings, the schedule is as follows:



4:00 PM Social hour with drinks and snacks

5:00 PM Business meeting

6:00 PM Buffet dinner



Jim will provide the main dish along with soft drinks and water. Members
are asked to bring a side dish to share such as salads, baked beans, potato
salad, desserts, wine, beer or other items which would complement burgers.
Members and guests are encouraged to contribute $10 cash per person the
first time you go through the buffet line to help offset the cost of the
dinner.



Weather permitting, Jim is planning on holding the meeting on his deck, so
you should consider bringing a sweater or light jacket.



If you plan on attending the meeting, *PLEASE RSVP by 8:00 PM on Wednesday,
October 18* to jimw3nrj at yahoo.com and provide your name, call sign, number
of persons attending and what you will be bringing to share.  This step is
important to help Jim properly plan so that enough food and drinks are
purchased for the meeting. If you are unsure until the day of the event,
please DO come anyway.
