Phil, I WILL attend as not going to Denver until following week. Private room is great for meeting.
My 160/80 meter vertical wire worked great in the WPX. I only S&P, looking for WPX entities via DX Summit. There were only a few stations that I could hear I could not work on 80. I did not work 160. Having the antenna 250 feet from any house is a big advantage. for noise reduction. Not sure I really need a receiving antenna, but ordered the new book per the QST ad on RX antennas today.
There is a couple of months left in good non QRN condx on 80 and 160. If you are only going to work contests on 80 and not 160, then a coax fed 3/8 wl vertical with 1/8 wl radials above ground would be the way to go. I can copy the O4UN book pages on this... 4 radials best and can be very thin wire. When your 160 loop is fixed you will find it works very well on 160. There seems to be some low angle radiation, but sometimes EU signals come in at higher angles also.I had 60 confirmed on my loop and I never stayed up late for African on Europe sunrise, getting in the pile ups in the normal evening hours. 160 is the HF equivalent of the magic band 6 meters, as the grey line opening at sunrise are about 20 - 30 minutes long at our location. You do need your amp however.

Many of the Maryland members have asked for a regular meeting of the NCDXA to be held on their side of the Potomac River. On Saturday, the 14th of April we will meet at the Dogfish Head Alehouse, located at 800 W. Diamond Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20878 at noon. If you are coming from the north, get off at Quince Orchard Rd, exit 10, make a right at the end of the ramp, go 2 lights and make a left at Clopper Road. The Alehouse is at the next light - make the left and pull into their lot. Going north, get off at exit 10 and make a right at the end of the exit ramp and make a right at the next light and pull right into their lot.
Our treasurer has booked us into their small private dining room so we need to know how many members will be attending. Please RSVP so that we know there will be enough space to accommodate everyone coming. Hope to see everyone on the 14th, especially our Maryland members.
Obviously the Agenda will be slightly different.
