Fellow members of NCDXA:

Our long-time "J" suffix sorter in the ARRL Third Call Area Incoming QSL
Bureau, Ed Chance, K3JJG has retired from sorting duties. Therefore we
are in need of a sorter to replace him.

Actually our "L" sorter, Ed Herbrechtsmeier, K3QX has offered to take over
the "J" files also, but since he is now living in Missouri, I would prefer
to find someone in the Baltimore-Washington area to take the position since
incoming cards and DXer envelopes could be delivered at club meetings
instead of being mailed off to Missouri at ARRL expense. As you may have
noted, new management at ARRL HQ has been after us to cut costs.

Since NCDXA is the host club for the Third Call Area Bureau, I am
canvassing you NCDXA members for volunteers first. Once you get the hang
of it, the job takes a couple of hours one evening a month, and you work
from home. I have already checked the "J" files thoroughly and notified
those DXers who have unclaimed cards, so the new sorter can hit the ground
running. Along with the files I provide a detailed written "how-to"
tutorial to each new sorter explaining all aspects of the sorter's
function. There is no pay, but as a volunteer sorter you do get free use
of the ARRL Outgoing QSL Bureau to send out your own QSLs to DX stations.
I collect your outgoing cards when I deliver your incoming cards to you so
there is no postal cost for you to get the cards to ARRL HQ either.

73, Fred Laun, K3ZO
Manager
NCDXA/ARRL Third Call Area Incoming QSL Bureau
