Fellow members of NCDXA:
Please find enclosed the Agenda for tomorrow's online meeting. Let's hope
that none of us are distracted from the meeting by having
to deal with flooded basements, which seems to be the only possible damage
predicted by the passing hurricane.
Thanks to Treasurer Phil, K3EW for making the arrangements to use the Zoom
program for our meeting.

MINUTES OF THE NATIONAL CAPITOL DX ASSOCIATION MEETING OF
02/29/2020
Attending were W2YE Dick Maylott; N4MM John Kanode; K3ZO Fred
Laun;
N3HSA Erinn Tordella; W3ICM Fred Matos (with XYL Elaine); W3NRJ
Jim Locke
Location: Falls Church Marriott
President Fred K3ZO called the luncheon meeting to order at
12:15.
The attendees introduced themselves with calls and names.
The Treasurer's report was given by K3ZO, Fred in the absence of
Treasurer K3EW,
Phil Barsky who is vacationing in Florida. The club has
$3625.33 in its bank
account with a donation pending to the Swain Island Dxpedition.
The Dxpedition
has been postponed due to the current uncertainties with the
Corona virus situation.
A note of thanks for our donation and a QSL card was received
from Stan LZ1GC from
the T30GC Dxpedition. The QSL card contained the NCDXA logo.
K3ZO, Fred reported that the Southeast DX Association members
have been feeding
updates on the medical situation of Don Search W3AZD (a NCDXA
founding member)
to The Daily/Weekly DX owner Bernie McClenney, W3UR. Members
can track Don's
progress by reading Bernie's newsletter containing forwarded
reports from Florida
when Don remained in hospital as of our meeting date. Since
Don was a sorter for
both QSL Bureaus, Phil K3EW has gathered up W3 and Two-letter
Prefix Fourth Call
Area Bureau cards and envelopes from Don's Florida QTH, and has
shipped them to
Fred K3ZO. Fred has forwarded the Two-Letter Fourth Call Area
materials to Dick
W2YE who is that Bureau’s Manager.
John, N4MM, in His ARRL report said that the tumultuous past
several years
continues with the League actively seeking candidates for the
next president,
as the contract for the current CEO was not renewed. Board
approval issues
for actions taken and possible contesting activity issues were
among the reasons
for the League seeking other candidates. There are now
approximately 150,000
ARRL members, with the preponderance being Extra Class holders,
and with
Technicians under represented for the number of licensees held.
Other items: As a result of the last WRC Conference 44 more
countries now
allow operations on 6 meters, such as Russia which allows
operations from 50 to
50.2 MHz. Martti Laine plans to make United Nations station
4U1UN active again
by operating the station in upcoming contests.
Next Meeting : The next meeting was set for April 25, 2020,
with further details
to follow.
Adjournment was ordered by President Fred K3ZO at 1:35 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Locke, W3NRJ
Secretary
