Fellow Members of NCDXA.
Here are the Minutes of the regular meeting of NCDXA held on October 27. I
apologize for the delay, I was busy with a very active participation in the
CQWW SSB DX Contest.
73, Fred Laun, K3ZO
President.

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM EDST by President K3ZO. Those
present were asked to introduce themselves.
The regular NCDXA meeting of August 18, 2021 had been cancelled. The
minutes of the meeting prior to that, on June 16, 2021 along with a special
meeting on June 24, 2021 had been posted online earlier and were accepted
without change.
On behalf of Treasurer K3EW, who was away on travel status, President K3ZO
reported that the NCDXA treasury account stood at $4537.63 as of September
30, 2021.
The October meeting each year is traditionally the meeting at which half of
the officers are selected for two year terms. This year the terms of the
Vice President and the Secretary were up for consideration. There being no
other nominations, Vice President N4MM agreed to serve for another two
years and K3ZO agreed to serve as Acting Secretary in the absence of any
other candidate
Vice President N4MM reported on ARRL business. John commented that it
seemed as though there wasn't much that was special to report out of ARRL
Headquarters since there wasn't much news coming out. K3ZO commented that
there seemed to be some confusion surrounding the status of the Director of
Emergency Management since that position was no longer listed on the
listing of Staff on the QST masthead.
It was reported that the term of office for the Director of the ARRL
Roanoke Division is ending, and in addition to the incumbent W2RU, there
are two other candidates for election to this office, former Director N2ZZ
and North Carolina Section Manager WA4NC. Since four of the NCDXA members
present at this meeting are resident in the Roanoke Division, an extensive
and informative discussion of the relative merits of each candidate ensued.
The Vice Director of the Roanoke Division, N2COP is running unopposed so
has already been declared elected for another term.
There is also a very competitive race going on for the Director of the New
England ARRL Division.
As for his regular DX report, N4MM opened the discussion to all of those
present who reported that the level of DXpeditions is gradually recovering
from the Covid-19-caused absences, and members reported success in working
the handful of DXpeditions currently on the air. There is much anticipation
of planned DXpeditions to the very rare Bouvet Island during the coming
year.
ARRL W3 QSL Bureau Manager K3ZO reported that the flow of incoming cards
from overseas bureaus is back to normal.
There has traditionally been a regular NCDXA meeting during the month of
December. The date for this meeting will be announced on the NCDXA
Reflector following date selection by the officers.
There being no further business, on motion of WV4V the meeting was
adjourned at 7:48 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Alfred A "Fred" Laun, III, K3ZO
Secretary (Acting)
