My comment is that we should have a "Plan B" in case there NCDXA does not provide all of the operators. But we can discuss on Friday.

PHIL K3EW, ED K5KU AND HOWARD AE3T, Directors of NCDXA-C, have called for a special membership meeting to discuss and vote on time sensitive matters which have been brought to the attention of the board. The Agenda and Zoom meeting invitation follow:
Agenda for a Special General Membership meeting of NCDXA-C to be held via Zoom on 8/9/23 at 730PM Eastern Time
1. The first item on the agenda is an open discussion to decide if NCDXA is going to manage and support all facets of a ZD7 DXpedition in the spring of 2025 or not- i.e. is this going to be a NCDXA DXpedition or not? That means: providing all participants, managing the logistics, managing the operations through a network of control stations, and all of the operational activities and supporting activities necessary for a successful DXpedition operation. What makes this DXpedition easier is that we are occupying established buildings, using local power, utilizing high frequency antennas on site already, plus adding some for lower frequencies. Obtaining local food is also easier than bringing along our own rations. Plus, we are not going into an environmentally sensitive location. There are winds to contend with but ones that can be properly prepared for. Anyone who has been to places like Montserrat on DXpedition will recognize that this operation as very similar in nature to those endeavors.
As raised by our Secretary Brian WV4V, “If something should happen to any member of the DXpedition we don't wish to be sued by being the "official Sponsor. I doubt the Club can afford liability insurance and medical evacuation insurance for such an event.”. The liability that goes along with being the Official Sponsor of this DXpedition should be thoroughly vetted at this meeting.
It is the opinion of the board, that unless we have total commitment from the NCDXA membership, because just about everyone will have to pitch in on this one, we will not support this DXpedition at all operationally or logistically but will support it monetarily to a level that we support other DXpeditions.
In addition, if NCDXA decides not to be the official sponsor of this endeavor, Art, WA7NB (or someone else), needs to be the organizer of all aspects of this DXpedition, so that NCDXA's role should be limited to provide a donation, a venue for news updates as the time rolls by, recruiting for participants from among the Members, notices of requests for donations of equipment, etc.
2. The second agenda item is a request from an upcoming DXpedition to Tuvalu, T2C, 10/10/23 until 10/30/23 They are requesting a monetary donation. We will be voting on a resolution to support this DXpedition.
