NCDXA is now the holder of the call K3ZO, with Rick K1MU continuing to be
the trustee of the club call. It was our intent to honor the memory of Fred
and keep his well-known call active by NCDXA and PVRC members in the
future. I have volunteered to be the activity and QSL manager for the call
and have been busy setting up the LOTW account which should be ready within
a week.
If you would like to use K3ZO for your activity, please contact me via
email (howardms at lehigh.edu or hmsherer at gmail.com) with the event and the
date. Only one user will be approved for each date & time. In any event or
contest that requires an exchange of a name we will be using Fred as part
of the exchange. I will post who will be using the call and the dates.
Although Fred loved to operate SSB and CW, we are not restricting the calls
use for only these modes. Yes WSJT-X, and RTTY events will be approved.
After a contest please send me the contest log file and I will submit it
for scoring as well as to the 3805 site. Also send me the LOTW log file for
uploading via the TQSL site to LOTW.
We would also like to design a paper QSL card for those who will request a
card, and I would like to receive some design ideas that we can consider,
so please send them in. We do want the card to be a memorial to Fred.
The calls 1st use will be this weekend for the NAQP CW contest. The
operation will be from the K3AJ remote multi-op station with K3AJ, WT3K,
ND3D, K3WA, & AE3T as the operators.
Please reach out to me with any questions.
