I’ll be there!  I could probably bring a batch of my contest Turkey chili w/ beans if you like?  It’s almost as good as Phyllis’.  LOL!!

The weather Saturday is unlikely to be SHINE, at best there will be a grey sky, temps in the 70s, and there's a real chance of some RAIN. Current forecasts show a 30% chance each hour 11AM-2PM of 0.01" rain and there could be some bigger bursts.
BUT we have a covered shelter over our picnic tables! If necessary we will consolidate all our food together to give us enough dry seating area under the roof.
Depending on the weather and your optimism you may want to bring a camping chair, an umbrella, or both.
If you have to drop out because of weather or some other reason,that's fine -  please let me know so we can right-size our chicken order.

PVRC/NCDXA ANNUAL FOWLFEST 2026 is on Saturday August 22! Please sign up now so we can right-size our food portions!
FOWLFEST 2026 will be held on August 22, 2026, in the Bobwhite Pavilion in Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD. It will take place from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm – rain or shine! This is the same great location that we used in 2018, 2019 ,and 2022-2025.
The program will include a NCDXA meeting, a W3 QSL Buro meeting, and a PVRC meeting.
This year Tim N3QE is in charge, with CONTINUING organizational, motivational, inspirational, and hauling assistance from Phil K3EW. Jack W3KX has already taken on the important job of bringing the chicken. Interested in helping us prepare, set-up, or clean up afterwards? If so, please drop Tim a note!
WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED –Bottled water, iced tea, lemonade, assorted soft drinks, deli coleslaw and potato salad, all paper products, utensils, etc. and of course, lots of tasty charcoal BBQ roasted Peruvian Style chicken everyone liked the last 5 fowlfests!. A variety of chips and dips will also be provided. You may bring your favorite non-alcoholic beverage, wine or beer for yourself or to share.
APPETIZERS, SIDE DISHES AND DESSERTS WELCOME–Please bring an appetizer, a side dish to complement the chicken, or a dessert to share, serving 4-6 people. Suggestions are:  raw vegetables with dip, hummus with pita chips, cucumber salad, pasta or macaroni salad, tossed green salads with dressing, three-bean salad, couscous salad, brownies, cookies, cakes, watermelon or fresh fruit salad.
OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD BRING-While there is covered seating for 50 available in the pavilion, some of it will be used as the serving bar for the food. You should consider bringing a lawn chair to sit under the shade of the pine trees on the perimeter of the pavilion area, to spread the crowd around and encourage socializing.
ADDRESS AND DIRECTIONS–Seneca Creek State Park, 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.  The park is approximately 2 miles away after taking Exit 10 off I-270 Northbound and about 1.5 miles from Exit 11 off I-270 Southbound.

PARK ENTRANCE FEE: There is a $3.00 service charge per person for MD residents and $5.00 charge per person for out-of-state residents payable in cash only at the front entrance gate.  Maryland Park Service Golden Age cardholders presenting their membership card at the entrance gate will enter the park free-of-charge.

FOWLFEST REGISTRATION: PLEASE LET US KNOW THAT YOU ARE COMING AND WHAT, IF ANYTHING YOU ARE BRINGING TO SHARE.    WE NEED SOME ADDITIONAL FOLKS TO STEP UP AND VOLUNTEER TO: HELP SET UP (3 FROM 1030-1130 AM),  AND TO HELP WITH CLEAN UP (3 OR 4 FOLKS FROM 3-4pm).  PLEASE RSVP WITH THE ABOVE INFORMATION VIA EMAIL TO  b'tshoppa at gmail.com' or 202-657-7318.

FowlFest PavilionDirections to FowlFest:
>From points South: From I-270 North toward Frederick, MD take Exit 10, Clopper Road – West Diamond Avenue. After exiting I-270, stay in two rightmost lanes and follow the exit around Park-and-Ride to the traffic signal at the end of the exit ramp. Turn RIGHT onto MD-117, Clopper Road. Stay on Clopper Road for 2 miles and six (6) traffic signals. Park entrance is on your LEFT immediately after passing Game Preserve Road on your RIGHT.  Turn LEFT into park and stay on the main road for 0.2 miles to the main entrance gate.
 From points North: From I-270 South toward Washington, DC. Take Exit 11, Montgomery Village Avenue –Quince Orchard Road.  After exiting I-270, keep RIGHT. At end of exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto MD-124 South, Quince Orchard Road.  Follow for two traffic signals. At the second traffic signal, turn RIGHT onto MD-117 West, Clopper Road. Stay on Clopper Rod for approximately 1.5 miles. Park entrance will be on your LEFT immediately after passing Game Preserve Road on your RIGHT. Turn LEFT into park and stay on the main road for 0.2 miles to the main entrance gate.
After you go through the pay station, make the first right turn onto the main park road.  You will be following this road about 1 mile or so going down a deep depression and then climbing out of it. At the top of the climb, turn left and enter into the QUAIL RIDGE area, just ahead on the left.  The Bobwhite Pavilion is straight ahead - park in the parking lot that you get to before the pavilion.
