<div dir="ltr">I had an interesting conversation with past NCDXA president K3LP last night.<div><br></div><div>First, Dave is asking if NCDXA is willing to be a major player in supporting the January/February 2016 DXpedition to South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands - the #3 and #7 on the most wanted list</div><div><br></div><div>Dave's offer is that if NCDXA is willing to donate $1,001 to that operation, that he'll donate $300 of that personally. I'll join him in offering $100 of my own funds to that contribution. </div><div><br></div><div>If the club membership agrees, NCDXA will contribute $601 from our treasury to support a major, high profile operation where we'll be billed as a major contributor. Given the high (astronomical!) cost of operations like this, it makes sense to me for the club to consider contributing. Of course, if individual members want to add their contribution to the pot, it'll be used to defray the club contribution. <br clear="all"><div><br></div><div>Have a look at <a href="http://www.intrepid-dx.com/vp8/" target="_blank" style="font-family:HelveticaNeue,'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,'Lucida Grande',sans-serif;font-size:14px">http://www.intrepid-dx.com/vp8/ </a> for info on the operation.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm inclined to support this operation as it's what NCDXA is for. Comments, support, or objections? Let's discuss on the reflector.</div><div><br></div><div>Second: as NCDXA is currently lacking leadership, Dave is offering to accept the role of President. We're currently rudderless, with no meetings scheduled and nothing but just me as the acting Treasurer.. let's consider this offer as well (but not exclusive of the issue of a NCDXA contribution to VP8).</div><div><br></div><div>To answer the obvious question, the current NCDXA treasury is just over $3700.</div><div><br></div><div>73,</div><div>    -Rick</div><div>-- <br></div><div class="gmail_signature">Rick Murphy, CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA</div>
