<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">Fellow NCDXA Members:<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br>The October Meeting of NCDXA will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Saturday October 22, <br>in the Private Dining Room of the Ellipse Restaurant at the Fairview Park <br>Marriott Hotel, 3111 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.<br><br>The October meeting has traditionally been a very important meeting for the <br>NCDXA because it is where dues are collected for the following year and where <br>the election of officers for the coming year takes place.  The by-laws state <br>that only paid-up members can vote in the elections.  In order to allow all <br>those  who attend the meeting to vote, I am scheduling the dues payment as the <br>first item of business, and the vote as the last item of business.<br><br>My apologies for the somewhat irregular and uncoordinated effort to collect dues <br>in the recent past.  The fact that we were without a President at this time last <br>year resulted in the normal dues collection sort of slipping by without notice <br>to the members. Some of you may believe that you are already paid up but we are <br>talking here about the dues for 2017. Dues are $30 per year.  Those members unable<br>to attend are encouraged to pay their dues as outlined on the NCDXA Web Site at<br><a href="http://www.ncdxa.org/membership.shtml">http://www.ncdxa.org/membership.shtml</a><br><br>As far as the elections are concerned, the term of office of John Kanode, N4MM,<br>our Vice-President, does not expire until next year.  The term of office of<br>our Secretary-Treasurer, Jack Ference, W3KX, also does not expire until next<br>year.  However, Jack has indicated that he wishes to have those two offices<br>split up again as has been the custom in NCDXA&#39;s history.  Jack is willing<br>to continue to serve as Treasurer but wishes to give up the post of Secretary.<br>As a result, Terry Hines, N4ZH has agreed to serve as Secretary.   <br>  <br>So the only two offices up for election at this time are President and Secretary.<br>Interim President Fred Laun, K3ZO has agreed to serve a full term as President.<br>Of course members are invited to propose other candidates from the floor for<br>those two offices in the course of the nominating process.<br><br>Driving directions to the meeting follow.  Drinks and dinner can be ordered from <br>the hotel at the meeting.<br><br>-------------------------------------------------------------------------<br><br>From the Beltway I-495: Exit the Beltway at EXIT 50-B, marked Route 50 East, <br>ARLINGTON.<br><br>Follow sign marked FAIRVIEW PARK SOUTH. You will swerve around to your right.<br><br>After the overhead traffic lights move over into the left lane.<br><br>The SECOND LEFT TURN possible (left turn lane here) will take you immediately to <br>the front door of the Hotel. Plentiful complementary parking is in covered <br>garage and outdoor lots. Handicapped parking is to the right of the front door <br>of the hotel.<br><br><br>From the District of Columbia:<br><br>Take Route 50 West, Arlington Boulevard toward FAIRFAX.<br><br>Just before the Beltway I-95, exit to the right where marked FAIRVIEW PARK. Do <br>not get on the Beltway here. At the top of the exit ramp swerve off to the LEFT. <br>The sign there is “FAIRVIEW PARK S” meaning “Fairview Park South.”<br><br>You are now on Fairview Park Drive. Move into the LEFT LANE.<br><br>The SECOND LEFT TURN possible (left turn lane here) will take you immediately to <br>the front of the Hotel.<br><br><br>Complementary parking is in covered garage and outdoor lots. Handicapped parking <br>is to the right of the front door of the hotel.  Assuming that you enter the <br>front door of the hotel, turn right immediately after you enter. Proceed down <br>the corridor. The telephones and RESTROOMS are on your right immediately after <br>the Gift Shop. Pass the first canopy on your left (Club Lounge cocktail bar) and <br>continue to The Ellipse entrance on your left.<br><br>From the covered parking garage: Take the elevator to &quot;L&quot; (Lobby) level Take a <br>right out of the elevator and follow through two sets of doors. The Ellipse <br>Restaurant will be on your right just after you pass through the second set of <br>doors.<br><br>73, Fred Laun, K3ZO<br> President, NCDXA <br><br></div></div>
