<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">Fellow members of NCDXA:</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">I have completed the 2017 end-of-year report of the NCDXA/ARRL Third Call Area Incoming QSL Bureau which will be mailed to ARRL HQ on Tuesday.  Last year we processed 86,475 incoming QSLs compared with 124,173 in 2016, or in other words a 30% drop in volume.  <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">The drop in volume is no doubt due to several factors.  More people are using LoTW; higher ARRL Outgoing Bureau fees mean ARRL members are sending out fewer cards through the bureau, meaning fewer returns; the sunspot cycle is nearing the bottom, meaning fewer bands are regularly open for DX;  some long-time DXers have become Silent Keys while newer DXers are less inclined to use the bureau system when there are so many online alternatives for confirming contacts.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">Thanks to those of you NCDXA members who are sorters: K1MU W3AZD K3IRV K3LU K4RZ K5EK N4VA and W3KX.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">73, Fred Laun, K3ZO</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">Manager</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">NCDXA/ARRL Third Call Area Incoming QSL Bureau      <br></div></div>
