In the case<br>of NCDXA, this has allowed members who have moved out of the area<br>to attend regular meetings and for NCDXA to offer membership to <br>folks who live too far away to attend in-person meetings.<br><br>Not only has Phil skilfully used his knowledge of online capabilities<br>to resuscitate our regular meetings, but his establishing the weekly<br>"How's DX" sessions has allowed us to relate to each other more frequently<br>as well as enhancing the value of NCDXA membership.<br> <br>For these reasons, I know you will all join me in awarding Phil a<br>hearty vote of thanks. <br><br>--------------------------------------------<br><br>MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE NATIONAL CAPITOL DX ASSOCIATION<br> OCTOBER 27, 2022<br> <br>After a bit of confusion caused by ZOOM connectivity problems, President<br>K3ZO called the online meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. EDST.<br><br>In attendance were the following members:<br><br>1. Vic Culver, W4VIC<br>2. Fred Laun, K3ZO<br>3. Howard Sherer, AE3T<br>4. Ed Kuebert, K5EK<br>5. Fred Matos, W3ICM<br>6. Mike Cresap, W3IP (guest)<br><br>Since the in-person August FOWLFEST meeting had been a purely social affair, no <br>minutes had been taken of that meeting, so there are no former minutes to read<br>this time.<br><br>K3ZO pointed out that this October meeting has traditionally been the annual<br>meeting at which officers are selected. He pointed out that at the present<br>time, he has been acting as Secretary since there is currently no incumbent<br>in this position. He suggested that, given that up to five of the six regular<br>yearly meetings are now held online via ZOOM, there is no practical reason<br>why out-of-area members cannot be officers. He opened the floor for discussion<br>of this matter.<br><br>As a result, Brian Treadwell, WV4V offered to become Secretary, and his initiative<br>was accepted. K3ZO said he would provide necessary materials to WV4V in due course.<br><br>In the absence of Treasurer K3EW, K3ZO relayed his Treasurer's report. At this <br>time the treasury has $5,963.08 cash on hand. K3EW wished members to take note<br>that 2023 dues of $30 are solicited for those who have not yet paid up.<br><br>There was some discussion by those present as to whether NCDXA should contribute<br>to the upcoming DXpeditions to Crozet and/or Bouvet.<br><br>Vice-President N4MM gave his regular report on ARRL affairs. There was some concern<br>that QST has not been as useful or as timely as usual. As for current DXpeditions, most<br>of the discussion involved P29PO and TYØRU.<br><br>K3ZO reported that the flow of overseas cards into the W3 QSL Bureau had slowed<br>recently.
