Hello NCDXA,

T88WA has not been very active on the WARC bands and 40 meters
until recently. The strong gale storm
and tent damages may have delayed their operations. Never saw any spots for WARC bands before Friday, yesterday.

T88WA was active on the WARC bands on Friday. I worked him on 12 meters SSB at 2313 UTC;
and on 17 SSB at 2216 UTC. It was not
very hard to work him. He was spotted by
EU’s on 30 CW on 10113 at 1600-1800 UTC. One W3LPL RBN spot had him heard in CA. I never heard him.

40 meters -- He was spotted by the RBN in CA and OR on 40 CW
on 7024 at 1500 UTC. He has not been spotted
by anyone on the east coast.

T33T continues to operate FT-8 for a large majority of the
time. I first heard him on 10 SSB when
they first fired up last week, but I could not get through or around the JA’s. There was no SSB operation until Friday, yesterday,
when he was spotted on 14250 at 0345 by EU’s. There were numerous spots by EU’s,
VK, ZL, etc., and a few W6’s and W7’s and two east-coast stations. I never heard the T33T nor did I hear anyone
working him.

I recall that the DailyDX published the T33T list of
frequencies. The
list included the CW, SSB, and FT-8 frequencies, such as 21002 for CW. BUT there has been very little operating on
CW and SSB. My point here is that they
obviously had operating plans for CW and SSB.

Propagation to the U.S to that Pacific area has been excellent,
with P29RO, T88WA, A35GC, and other stations in that area easily workable. Thus propagation should not be the reason to use FT-8. The unanswered question is why they don’t use
the CW and SSB modes.
