First, BU-BX call signs are all Taiwan, which is zone 24, I’ll not include them in following discussions. Second letters indicate the type or class of the call sign. BYs are club stations, BTs are special events, BAs are first class (extra), BDs are second class, BGs and BHs are third/forth class etc. BS7H is in its own class. that the number and letter after the call are important in the zone identification. The second letter of the call does not have
to be a “Y” as defined above. <o:p class=""></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">For example, I worked the followining stations, all with a “3”: BD3CB, BY3CQ, and BH3APK. All have a "3" but all are in Zone 24.<o:p class=""></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">The advice is to ignore the second letter of the call sign,
but the number and letter after the number are important. Thus the call could be BA3LLL, BH3KKK, or BH9MMM
and they would be in Zone 23.<o:p class=""></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">But I follow the rule:
“When in doubt, make the QSO and look it up later.” Or accept the logger info, but if the logger
info doesn’t look right, look up the call and make the correction. <o:p class=""></o:p></div>
