Dear Fellow PVRCers and NCDXAers...

We escaped back yard tree damage so the  SHADY GRASSY NOLL is in good shape for the picnic.  I have been making saw horses and plywood picnic table tops, so if we have our 40-50 person turn out as the 2 previous years most all will get a table (1st to send in confirmations get the tables.)

HOWEVER,  I could use two persons to help me unload our van which will have folding chairs borrowed from my wife's nursing home client and then reload after the event. We place the chairs around the tables.

As far as cooking the fowl, I need 2 members to watch the chicken and spray the charcoal if it flames up as the chicken cooks. Also the helpers will coat the BBQ sauce on both sides as the pieces cook. Gooooood !  I will check the internal temperatures to ensure the birds turn out juicy but done.  The 2 unloaders and reloaders could also serve as cook assistants, but I'll take any offer to help out.  The cooking assistants are important as I have 5 small grills and one gas grill to watch over.  THANKS !

My all-wires antenna farm did suffer the loss of a tree I was borrowing from my neighbor to hold up one point of a 560 foot triangle loop skywire.  The antenna was over a 1 1/2 inch limb at the very top using a pulley and bungee cords on both ends of the support and pulley ropes.  However the 55' tree snapped in half, begging the question did the weight of the wire have anything to do with the loss of the tree ?  Since some of the tree had come down in previous wind storms, I will say "no" to my own question.  But one's experience with long wire antennas attached to trees and their wind survival might be one subject for the Fowlfest Chat.

Hope to see you all on the 18th of August. Send your confirmation in for my Fowlfest email folder.  I will send out an on-going attendee list a little later after the holiday.

73,

Jim

P.S.  At times I still make on-air mistakes, giving out a "6".
