[NCDXA] October NCDXA Meeting THIS SATURDAY

Fellow members of NCDXA:

Our regular October meeting will take place this Saturday, from 1:30 to
3:30 PM, at the
Private Dining Room (PDR) of the Ellipse Restaurant, Fairview Park Marriott
Hotel,
3111 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, VA.  After having three straight
meetings in
Maryland, we are returning to Virginia for this one.  Detailed directions
to the
hotel follow below.   Based on a desire expressed by several members to have
the meetings take place around mid-day rather than later in the afternoon,
please note the 1:30 pm starting time.

I apologize for taking so long to make a detailed announcement about our
meeting.
I have been involved in getting my low noise 160 meter Waller Flag antenna
installed
and that has been a bit of a distraction for me.

The October meeting is traditionally the meeting where dues for the coming
year are
requested. Dues are currently $30 per year.

The October meeting is also the meeting at which officer elections are
traditionally
held.  According to our by-laws, the two-year terms of our officers are
staggered.  Our current
Vice-President, John Kanode N4MM, and our current Treasurer, Phil Barsky,
K3EW were
elected in October, 2017 so their terms of office will be up in October of
2019.
Our current President, (myself) Fred Laun, K3ZO and our current Secretary,
Terry Hines,
N4ZH were elected in October of 2016, so our terms are up this month.
Please come
prepared with any nominations you wish to make for these two offices.

Driving directions to the meeting follow.  Drinks and dinner can be ordered
from
the hotel at the meeting.

>From the Beltway I-495: Exit the Beltway at EXIT 50-B, marked Route 50 East,
ARLINGTON.

Follow sign marked FAIRVIEW PARK SOUTH. You will swerve around to your
right.

After the overhead traffic lights move over into the left lane.

The SECOND LEFT TURN possible (left turn lane here) will take you
immediately to
the front door of the Hotel. Plentiful complementary parking is in covered
garage and outdoor lots. Handicapped parking is to the right of the front
door
of the hotel.


>From the District of Columbia:

Take Route 50 West, Arlington Boulevard toward FAIRFAX.

Just before the Beltway I-95, exit to the right where marked FAIRVIEW PARK.
Do
not get on the Beltway here. At the top of the exit ramp swerve off to the
LEFT.
The sign there is “FAIRVIEW PARK S” meaning “Fairview Park South.”

You are now on Fairview Park Drive. Move into the LEFT LANE.

The SECOND LEFT TURN possible (left turn lane here) will take you
immediately to
the front of the Hotel.


Complementary parking is in covered garage and outdoor lots. Handicapped
parking
is to the right of the front door of the hotel.  Assuming that you enter the
front door of the hotel, turn right immediately after you enter. Proceed
down
the corridor. The telephones and RESTROOMS are on your right immediately
after
the Gift Shop. Pass the first canopy on your left (Club Lounge cocktail
bar) and
continue to The Ellipse entrance on your left.

>From the covered parking garage: Take the elevator to "L" (Lobby) level
Take a
right out of the elevator and follow through two sets of doors. The Ellipse
Restaurant will be on your right just after you pass through the second set
of
doors.
