The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Fred, K3ZO President.

First item was MINUTES from last meeting of Feb 29 which were accepted as
written without additions or corrections

The TREASURER REPORT was submitted by Phil, K3EW. The World-wide Radio
Operators Foundation was sent a check July 5, 2020, for $65. The NCDXA has
$3629.30 total funds in its bank account. For August so far received
application and dues for 3 years from Tom KE3GK of Glen Burnie MD , and
2020 membership dues were received from Bill Mims , W2WCM.

John, N4MM forwarded July 17 th ARRL BOARD MEETING INFO to K3ZO where the
board accepted the DX Advisory Committee report which included K2VV's
recommendation allowing DXCC endorsement for FT8 QSOs.

Further modifications for DXCC under consideration. Fred, W3ICM formally
submitted a recommendation to Section Manager W3TOM that ARRL change stated
objectives of contests to more closely align with that of the IARU. The
suggested objectives the committee reached were : “Objective: To encourage
W/VE stations to expand knowledge of DX Propagation on the HF and MF bands,
improve operation skills, improve station capability by creating a
competition in which DX stations may contact W/VE stations.” Further
information and the original suggestions forwarded are available in a note
from W3ICM or from W3NRJ via forwarded email.

QSL BURO NEWS from K3ZO is that the ARRL outbound buro is working off the
backlog from the Covid shutdown. But still some African and South American
countries still have international mail restrictions.

An FT8 DISCUSSION then ensued after K5VRX reported getting many FT8 cards.
Many hams are starting over for awards using the new mode. K3YNY felt FT8
should be in a separate award category. N4ZH pointed out that FT8 contacts
count the same as any other mode in the “mixed” DXCC category. The group
discussed whether digital is the future of ham radio and whether this new
mode will help us keep our allocated frequencies.

A NEW MEMBER, Tom Molyneaux from Glen Burnie joined the meeting. He had
submitted his application and dues. Tom has been an ham since 2019 and is
an Extra Class. He is active in Ft8, RTTY, and contesting. He is a SKCC
member. Tom has over 100 countries confirmed in multiple modes.

Before the meeting close K3EW reminded all that the MD QSO PARTY is this
coming weekend.

October 13 was set at the next meeting which will probably be virtual also.

President Fred K3ZO closed the meeting at 7:58 PM.
