Hello Kai,
*_SOS SOS SOS Don W3AZD_*
Unfortunately, due to the “Pandemic”, per Govenor DeSantis, Wilton Manors has closed the facility to visitors. While it is being done for the best of intentions and protection, it is also very cruel to the patients and relatives. Patients like Don have no idea what is going on out here in the real world. It is also unkind to Hope, his wife.
WE need prayers and we need everyone to call and inquire about Don as often as possible. The phone number is 954-563-5711. Don is in room 119 should you wish to call him there. If no answer, ask the nurse in Rapid Recovery to please make sure his phone is available to him in the bed that you would like to speak with him.
Don was doing marvelously in Holy Cross. He was eating with both hands and with gusto. He knew where he was and what he wanted. When the Doctor in attendance there asked Don if he was ready for “comfort Care” or Hospice, he said NO, I WANT TO LIVE.
When I have been to the rehab in the three former stays that Donald was there, his phone was not on his bed but 6 feet away up and behind his bed on the bedside table. Water was not accessible to him either. In fact, in Holy Cross, Don requested that his nephew bring him bottled water to keep in bed with him so he could reach it when thirsty. That does not sound like a man ready to pack it in to me.
The only link to Don is the telephone, so please *call about him and for* him. Let him know we care and we are watching. *Make sure Don is eating his food at every meal. ASK DON, “WHAT DID YOU EAT TODAY? “*
The Doctor at Holy Cross said that it is possible that Don will recover his body’s ability to balance his electrolytes with aggressive maintenance and lab work being followed very closely. From his lips to God’s ears.
Thank you all for your compassion in this instance. I feel that we should all look out for one another at all times. I am counting on everyone who reads this to call Don.
Thank you and God bless. Melanie
