Hello DXers,
As I indicated in our Thursday roundtable last night, I had a questionable QSO with VU4W on 15 CW on Thursday afternoon. Some idiot keep sending UP UP on his freq just as he was coming back to me, so I never heard my complete call. He wasn't very strong either, so that made the QSO even more questionable because of the noise.
He uploads his log to ClubLog every day, and I am very pleased that I'm confirmed on Clublog. It's an ATNO for me. Now I need to get a card or LoTW confirmation.
He was on 21023. There was a huge pileup, and my strategy was to call just above the masses. I called many times on 21029.9, and he finally heard me, and we had a QSO.
He uploads to ClubLog where the data shows that he's had almost 10,000 QSOs so far. It's a 1-man operation because the others cancelled.
The pileup can be massive when the band is open to both NA and Europe, but he will sometimes call for NA which thins the pileup considerably, except for the bad-mannered Europeans.
Sometimes he doesn't answers callers very quickly. He's not as quick as 8Q7DX. Sometimes it takes him a minute or two to answer somebody.
Too bad that his friends cancelled. More ops provides some rest time, etc.
