Good Evening PVRC Members:
 
I want to thank the 17 PVRC Members who have already purchased DXCC-East Convention Dinner tickets. We'll meet at W3LPL's QTH on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM for where ICOM will sponsor some drinks and snacks, and equipment from ICOM and Yaesu will be put on display for use by contesters and dxers. Then on Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2012, 8:15 AM thru 9:00 PM, the convention will be held per http://www.dxcceast.com/
 
It will take about 150 people to attend the convention dinner in order to cover the cost of this convention after we pay for convention rental space, audio visual equipment, out-of-town speaker hotel rooms and dinners, local non NCDXA speaker dinners and other minor expenses.
 
It is our intent to bring a high quality ham radio convention with great speakers and sponsor booths to this area each year. If for some reason, we are able to exceed our goal and make money, the profits would be used to support dx-peditions.
 
As you are aware, some sponsors have taken a real risk in donating three grand prizes (IC-7600, FT-2000 and ACOM-1010) for this evening. A commitment from local hams is needed to continue this investment in coming years.
